The captain gets concerned when Shino’s name comes up.

We’re making good headway now, I think. Do vote on the poll, by the way. I’m going to start working on those this weekend.

Capcom’s Darkstalkers Tribute Artbook – You decide what I draw!

January 10th, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

Well, when I caught Omar Dogan’s journal post about the Darkstalkers Tribute artbook, and that they are accepting artist submissions. This means I have a shot at getting my art style recognized in the artbook. So! I’ve decided to do three pieces.

The first two will be standalone pinups, while the last one will be a pairing.

I will only consider characters from the first two games, Darkstalkers and Night Warriors.

When the voting concludes in one week, the winners will be announced along with my personal decision on which submission’s creation I will broadcast live over uStream. The polls will expire next week on the 17th, so make your picks in the column to the right. There are three polls, so please make sure to cast your vote on all of them!

IMPORTANT NOTE ON VOTING: Remember, there will be hundreds – if not thousands – of other artists making submissions to Udon Entertainment for the Darkstalkers Tribute. Because of this, and due to the immense popularity of Felicia and Morrigan, I am only including those two in the first pinup’s poll.

We find out that the captain of the ship is indeed Maxine’s brother, and Jase questions the value of his role…for a moment.

I should mention that I am taking a more relaxed page layout approach with the comic pages themselves…so if you find that some pages are seemingly lacking in dialogue, that’s because it’s intended. See, for it to be viable as a printable “manga-format” book, it needs to be clean and organized. Volume 0, from what I’ve seen in my proofcopies, are anything but consistent. I have to avoid making pages become so wordy that it crowds out the visuals. I’m not writing a novel – I’millustrating a graphic novel!

So, right now, I’m doing about two to four pages a week, posting two a week. This is going to be an interesting chapter…
